Nash 6th Grade Lions

This blog will launch students on an exciting new literacy project unlike any they have participated in before.  Students will learn to communicate through reading and writing while connecting with fellow classmates and students from all over the world!  Here are just a few reasons why this project is important.

Students will grow as writers. 

They will find their own voices as the discover what they love and put their thoughts and feelings into words.  As they explore their interests, they will find ways to express what they have learned and what they experience in and out of the classroom.

Learning will not just happen within the classroom.

Blogging will allow students to share with their friends and global classmates even when the final bell rings.  Discussions can happen any time, day or night as they read and write on their personal learning blogs.

Engaged students learn better. 

This project will enhance learning as it engages students’ minds.  They will read other blogs and carry on discussions through comments and posts.  With each interaction, students will become more excited about their writing skills and learn more about themselves and thier place in the world.

It will push your student to grow. 

Instead of limiting the conversation to only between teacher and student, many students and teachers can join the conversation.  With that, your student’s thoughts will be challenged by readers and your student will have to defend the position chosen.
