Learning the Ropes
To get the most out of your blogging experience, there are some skills you need to develop. The following activities will help you become more literate and how to use your new powers for the good of all mankind.
Activity # 1 – Bling your blog.
Choose one of the themes provided by Edublogs that you think is cool. Many of the themes allow you to change the look of the theme including colors and pictures. Pick one that is flexible if you are feeling adventurous, or use a theme that you think will do the trick for you.
Activity # 2 – Make your first post.
Following the Rules for Online Safety, put a post about why you think your school is the coolest. Remember the rules or else!
Activity # 3 – Make your first comment.
From our list of blogging Lions, find a post on which you want to comment. Perhaps you agree with what they said or disagree. Be sure and say why you agree or disagree. No name calling! Play nice.
Activity # 4 – Add links to your blog.
Do you have blogs that you like to read? Share them with the rest of your readers as links. Click here to learn how.
Activity # 5 – Create an avatar.
Is the “no pictures of yourself rule” bringing you down? No problemo. Create an avatar! An avatars is a picture that you create to represent you. Click here to learn how.
Activity # 6 – Create an About Me page.
If your audience wants to know a little about you, give ‘em a little somethin’. Create a page that you put your hobbies and interests. Remember the safety rules.
